Administrative Heirarchy
Our Strength
The administration of the Forest areas in the Bokaro region is based on factors such as administrative structure and available resources.
The Bokaro Forest Region operates under the guidance and supervision of Regional Chief Conservator of Forest (RCCF), who oversees the functioning of Circles and various divisions falling under its jurisdiction. Each circle is headed by a Conservator of Forests (CF), who is the controlling officer of the divisions falling in each circle.
Each division is headed by a Divisional Forest Officer (DFO). These divisions are responsible for implementing forest policies, managing forests, and conserving wildlife in their respective jurisdiction.
Each division has been organised into Ranges and Beats and Sub-Beats which are headed by Range Forest Officers (RFOs), Foresters and Forest Guards, respectively. Each officer is responsible and accountable for the territory headed by them and their functions and duties are codified. These field-level offices play a crucial role in day-to-day forest management including protection of forests, forest land, forest produce and implementation of various developmental and conservation works. They strictly enforce the Act and Rules like Indian Forest Act1927, Wild Life Protection Act 1972, Forest Conservation Act 1980 and Rules made there under. Supervisory Officers like Divisional Forest Officer, Conservator of Forests, Regional Conservator of Forests regularly carry out inspections of forests, and plantation and other works being implemented and ensure that they are as per the norms. There is a monthly review and monitoring system for monitoring all the aspects of Forest Protection and Management which ensures that there is no laxity at any level.
The department also involves local villagers and JFM members in protection, Conservation and Management of Forests especially protection from illicit felling, encroachment, anti-depredation measures, forest fire control, implantation of Plantations etc.

Despite working with less than half the working strength, the Bokaro region of Jharkhand continues to showcase unwavering dedication and commitment towards wildlife conservation and forest management. Our tireless efforts are always in the direction of protecting precious ecosystems and safeguarding endangered species. With limited resources, we strive to uphold our mission.
We are continuously demonstrating resilience and passion in the face of challenges. Our dedication is our strength which serves as an inspiration to all, and our invaluable contributions are instrumental in preserving the natural heritage of the region.
Other than the frontline field staff of forest department, proper leadership also plays a vital role in forest management in Bokaro region.
Leaders set the direction and priorities for using best practices, efficient resource utilization etc. They formulate and implement policies that align with state and national objectives. They develop strategies to address key issues such as illegal logging, forest degradation, encroachment, and biodiversity conservation. Effective leadership ensures that policies are implemented on the ground and that there is accountability for their enforcement.
Routine engagement with local communities, indigenous groups, NGOs, and other stakeholders to understand their perspectives helps in inclusive decision making.
